The sensor is attached to the ankle while sleeping, and senses the difference between the resident lying down, and the resident swinging their legs over the side of the bed.

Anklet

The anklet is made of a soft and washable material. It’s secured using velcro and a small locking strap. Inside the anklet is a sensor enclosed in a removable case, that measures the movement and angle of the resident’s ankle. We recommend only putting the anklet on the resident while they are in bed.

The sensor can be removed to wash the anklet, and is powered using a replaceable battery that lasts 4 to 6 months.

Hub

The hub is a small box that sits in the resident’s room. It is paired with the anklet, and must be within 50 yards. The hub receives data from the anklet decides when the resident is leaving the bed. The button on the top of the hub lights up in the event of a bed exit, and the hub alerts staff through the nurse call system. The hub can be connected to any wired or wireless nurse call system. Staff simply press the button on the top of the hub to acknowledge the alert.

The hub is powered via a wall outlet in the room.

Nurse Call

upBed can integrate with any nurse call system, either wired or wireless. Staff receive upBed alerts in the same way they receive alerts from call bells. The resident hears nothing. The upBed hub has a 1⁄4” mono jack on the back which can be connected to nurse call.

For wireless nurse call systems we provide a 1⁄4” male to terminal adapter (left), which can be connected to a wireless transmitter. For wired systems upBed can either be plugged directly into the wall jack or requires a Y-splitter for the nurse call system. One end goes to the call bell, the other end goes to upBed. Staff receive upBed alerts in the same way they receive call bell alerts.
